The origins of chalcedony glass date back to the 15th century. This technique was aimed at imitating porcelain and semi-precious stones such as agate, onyx, jasper. Fallen into disuse and forgotten in the 17th century, it was rediscovered during the 1800s and again adopted by the master glassmakers of Venice.
This bottle, from the first half of 1900, is a classic example: its shades of deep red and pure white imitate the finest porcelain.

Le origini del vetro calcedonio risalgono al XV secolo. Questa tecnica era mirata ad imitare la porcellana e le pietre semipreziose come l'agata, l'onice, il diaspro. Caduta in disuso e dimenticata nel XVII secolo, fu riscoperta durante il 1800 e nuovamente adottata dai maestri vetrai di Venezia.
Questa bottiglia, della prima met'a del 1900, ne e' un classico esempio: le sue sfumature di un rosso intenso ed il bianco candido imitano la porcellana più fine.
