Triptych of miniature portraits painted on ivory.
Ernest Rinzi (1836-1909), of Italian origin, but active in London, became famous both for his jewelry creations and for portraits of great expressive and pictorial quality.
Dating from around 1900, these "scandalous" portraits represent Art Nouveau in all its aspects: stylistically they respond to the most classic canons of the period and, at the same time, break old precepts by depicting subjects without veils.
On the back of the three there are notes from various eras, but in one you can see the famous tiny characters of a secret code he invented, with which Rinzi wrote a diary still undeciphered today.
All portraits are signed on the edge of the oval that encloses the subject. The signatures are hardly visible and are enlarged in the images.
The modern frame covered with elegant black fabric and the velvet background enhance the pastel colors of these works, creating a strong visual stimulus that allows you to appreciate all the smallest details.

Ernest Rinzi (1836-1909), di origine italiana, ma attivo a Londra, si rese famoso sia per le sue creazioni di gioielleria che per i ritratti di grande qualità espressiva e pittorica.
Databili a cavallo del 1900, questi "scandalosi" ritratti rappresentano l'Art Nouveau in tutti i suoi aspetti: stilisticamente rispondono ai canoni piu' classici del periodo e, allo stesso tempo, infrangono vecchi precetti raffigurando soggetti senza veli.
Sul retro dei tre vi sono annotazioni di varie epoche, ma in uno si possono notare i famosi minuscoli caratteri di un codice segreto da lui inventato, con cui Rinzi scrisse un diario ancora oggi indecifrato.
Tutti i ritratti sono firmati sul bordo dell'ovale che racchiude il soggetto. Le firme sono difficilmente visibili e sono ingrandite nelle immagini.
La montatura moderna con una cornice ricoperta di elegante tessuto nero ed il velluto di sfondo esaltano i colori pastello di queste opere, creando un forte stimolo visuale che permette di apprezzare i tutti i minimi dettagli
