The miniature depicting a young lady is inserted in the lid of a box entirely made in ivory. The high hairstyle and low neckline, characteristic of women's fashion around the end of the 1700s, allow us to place this portrait in that period.
It's signed on the right near the edge, but I couldn't figure out the name of the artist.

La miniatura che ritrae una giovane damigella e' inserita nel coperchio di una scatoletta interamente in avorio. L'alta acconciatura e l'ampia scollatura, caratteristiche dell'abbigliamento femminile intorno alla fine del 1700, ci permettono di collocare questo ritratto in quel periodo.
E' firmata sulla destra vicino al bordo, ma non sono riuscito a decifrarla.
