Before the advent of photography, silhouette portraits became popular, as they were faster and cheaper than a real portrait. Sometimes the artists of this technique took advantage of their ability to create other subjects, as in these two specimens, which represent two bucolic scenes.
Probably made between the end of the 1800s and the first decades of the 1900s, this silhouette represents three male profiles, painted on golden cardboard; the coeval frame is in wood and stucco and it is damaged in the lower part.
Signed on the bottom right, we were unable to trace the artist's name.

Prima dell'avvento della fotografia divennero popolari i ritratti di silhouette, in quanto erano piĆ¹ veloci ed economici di un ritratto vero e proprio. A volte gli artisti di questa tecnica approfittavano della loro abilita' per creare altri soggetti, come in questi due esemplari, che rappresentano due scene bucoliche.
Probabilmente realizzata fra la fine del 1800 ed i primi decenni del 1900, questa silhouette rappresenta tre profili maschili, dipinti su cartone dorato; la cornice coeva e' in legno e stucco ed e' danneggiata nella parte piu' bassa.
Firmata in basso a destra, non siamo riusciti a risalire al nome dell'artista.
