"Gouache" is the term that identifies the painting technique that uses pigments diluted in water mixed with arabic gum and chalk; it achieves a well saturated opaque color.
This beautiful example painted by an unknown artist towards the end of the 18th century represents a landscape in which a stone building stands out and a small fortified harbor is far in the background. Some ships over there appear to be in danger; the characters are in fact all facing the horizon and some wave their arms in that direction. Perhaps the memory of an episode that really happened.
Dimensions: 46.5x37 Cm. Repairs and some small woodworm holes, vertical fold.
"Gouache" e' il termine usato per identificare la tecnica pittorica che utilizza pigmenti diluiti in acqua e mescolati con gomma arabica e gesso, per ottenere un colore saturo ed opaco.
Questo bell'esempio dipinto da autore sconosciuto verso la fine del XVIII secolo rappresenta un paesaggio in cui spicca un edificio in pietra e sullo sfondo, in lontananza, un piccolo porto fortificato. Laggiu' alcune navi sembrano essere in pericolo; i personaggi sono infatti tutti rivolti verso l'orizzonte ed alcuni agitano le braccia in quella direzione. Forse il ricordo di un episodio realmente avvenuto.
Dimensioni: 46.5x37 Cm. Restauri e piccoli fori da tarlo, piega verticale.
