Rare example of polychrome Christ in papier-mâché; second half of the 19th century.
The skilled artist of this sculpture was able to render the anatomical details and the expressive strength of the face and body of the suffering figure with equal elegance.
The polychromy is original and has not been retouched, some small defects can be seen on the chest. The arms were reattached, note the restoration and the crack of the right arm. The hands also show flaws.

Raro esemplare di Cristo policromo in cartapesta; seconda meta' del XIX secolo.
L'abile artista di questa scultura ha saputo rendere con uguale eleganza i particolari anatomici e la forza espressiva del viso e del corpo della figura sofferente.
La policromia e' originale e non e' stata ritoccata, alcuni piccoli difetti si notano sul petto. Le braccia sono state riattaccate, notare il restauro e la crepa del braccio destro. Anche le mani mostrano evidenti difetti.
