When the fashion of needlepoint embroidered and beaded fabric handbags was established, the more luxurious models had a finely decorated silver frame.
These two represent two different periods and origins.
The most elaborate is German, produced by the silversmith Lutz & Weiss, active since 1882; the hallmarks allow us to date it after 1886. Decorated with the floral motifs typical of the end of the 19th century Art Nouveau.
Dimensions: 16x8 Cm (approx) / Weight: 84 Gr.
The other one, of Italian origin is only signed "Restelli". The typical less elaborate and linear style of the 30s /40s makes us suppose that the author is the well-known Milanese sculptor Mario Restelli (1891-1971), who experimented with the most varied materials in large and small works. This frame has no hallmarks, but the silver has been acid tested.

Quando si installo' la moda delle borsette in tela a piccolo punto e decorate con perline, i modelli piu' lussuosi avevano la cerniera in argento finemente decorato.
Queste due rappresentano due periodi ed origini differenti.
La più elaborata e' tedesca, prodotta dall'argentiere Lutz & Weiss, attivo dal 1882; i punzoni ci permettono di datarla dopo il 1886. Decorata con i motivi floreali tipici dell'Art Nouveau della fine del XIX secolo.

L'altra, di origine Italiana e' solo firmata "Restelli". Il tipico stile meno elaborato e lineare degli anni 30/40 ci fa supporre che l'autore sia il conosciuto scultore milanese Mario Restelli (1891-1971), che si cimento' con i più svariati materiali in opere di grandi e piccole dimensioni. Questa cerniera non ha punzoni, ma l'argento e' stato provato con l'acido.
