Theodore B. Starr Silver on Copper
Silver-plated copper serving plate or centerpiece.
On the back it bears the “Silver on Copper” mark and the hallmark by silversmith Theodore B. Starr of New York. Theodore B. Starr was among the most important and influential jewelry and goldsmith companies in New York City in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Various of their artworks and tableware are currently on display at the MET Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
In fact, we note the high quality of the materials and the extreme detail and care of the incisions of this heavy plate, which has an elaborate floral decoration on its entire surface and the edge in relief. Based on the history of the evolution of the brand of this company, we can date this dish between 1900 and 1924.

Starr era tra le più importanti e influenti aziende di gioielleria e oreficeria di New York City tra la fine del XIX e l'inizio del XX secolo. Vari dei gioielli ed articoli da tavola da loro prodotti sono attualmente esposti al MET Metropolitan Museum of Art di New York.
Si nota infatti la qualita' dei materiali e l'estremo dettaglio e cura delle incisioni di questo pesante piatto, che presenta una elaborata decorazione floreale su tutta la sua superficie ed il bordo in rilievo. In base alla storia dell'evoluzione del marchio di questa azienda, possiamo datare questo piatto fra il 1900 ed il 1924.
